Lisa is teaching a 3 credit course in Human Resource Management.

Course Description:
This is a course designed to provide a survey of human resource management (HRM) expertise areas including the role of human resource management in organizations, basic functions such as recruitment, selection, training, development, performance management, compensation and benefits, risk management, diversity management, ethics, and human resource strategy.
Emphasis is placed on gaining a breadth of knowledge about the human resource function in modern organizations.

Course Objectives:
The main objective of this course is to impart knowledge of HRM (basic concepts, practices, and policies) that are used by organizations for creating high-performance workplaces through the acquisition and management of talent and human capital. A secondary, related, but equally critical goal of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to develop workplace-relevant skills. Specifically, these include communication, teamwork, relationship management, leadership, and networking, and business acumen. These dual goals will be achieved through reflection papers, team presentations, DiSC personality assessments, guest speakers, and HR current events discussions.

Course Highlights: Lisa has worked with industry and community partners throughout her HR career and she has invited them to join her in the classroom as guest speakers.  They share with the students,  their expertise & knowledge that relates to the course material.
